| Question
1 I am having a problem with my 27 Mhz radio in that I can receive OK but am unable to transmit. All frequencies are affected; all external indications appear normal and the fuses are intact |
Possible
Solution 1 Start by thoroughly cleaning all antenna connections and leads at join points - don't apply vaseline or grease of any kind between connecting surfaces. If unsuccessful, the next step involves an internal check by a technician - crystals and other components. |

| Question
2 A 30 HP diesel engine has slowly been dropping the peak available RPM. All throttle linkages are normal with full travel. The propeller and hull are both clean and there is no abnormal exhaust colour. |
PossibleSolution
2 Check for restrictions in the exhaust system - especially where the cooling water leaves the engine. The exhaust riser is a likely culprit. |

| Question
3 The operating diesel engine temperature at a fixed RPM is 10-15 deg hotter than a few months ago. The system is water cooled via a sea water heat exchanger. Although water flow and other indications appear normal there does seem to be a little more steam around the hull exhaust point. |
Possible
Solution 3 Even though the water flow appears normal there may still be a restricted flow - especially when there seems to be more steam about. Check the engine cooling jacket - usually on top of the engine by disconnecting the entry and exit tubes / hoses. With an appropriate length and gauge of wire check for foreign matter inside the cooling tubes - by pushing the wire all the way through each hole. |
